Short Term Car Insurance For One Day

When you are looking to get an insurance plan for your car, you have two basic options. First, you can get a long term plan that you are committed to until your car is gone or you decide to cancel the plan. Your other option is simply to get a short term car insurance plan. This will expire after a set amount of days or weeks. When it does expire, you have to stop driving the car. If you need to keep driving, you can go in and renew the plan so that it is good for another short period of time. The question, then, is why you would choose this over a long term plan.

If You Are Out Of The Country Often

The first reason that you might want this type of a plan is if you think that you will frequently be leaving the country. Maybe you have to go to America for business and you tend to stay there for weeks at a time. Why would you want to be paying for insurance on a car in London when you are thousands of miles away from it? You can get a plan that will just last for the short amounts of time that you are in England.

If You Are a Student

Many students come to England to study for only a few months. After that, they go back to the countries that they came from. If you are a student and you have purchased a used car that you plan to drive only while you are in the country, you want to use a short term plan that can be applied to the car when you are actually using it. You do not want to have to keep paying once your classes have ended and you are back in your home country. Some short term plans can also be used on rental cars, but some cannot.

If You Want To Borrow A Car

You may also just be want to borrow a friend's car for a day, week or just a weekend. Normally car insurance is only sold for a year, and adding yourself to a friend's insurance can be costly and complicated for a one-off occasion. By buying temporary car insurance you can avoid the hassle and make sure you are covered regardless of your friend's broker.
